  • Chinese Law and Politics Course

The Faculty of Law offers three courses―the Law Course, the Politics Course, and the Chinese Law and Politics Course―and altogether this makes a much more complete and substantial course than that offered by any other university in this part of Japan. The Law Department at Aichi University considers individual personality formation to be a very important part of education, and we require our students to think logically, critically and creatively, and to use their imagination.

  • Law Course

In the study of Law it is very important to acquire a mastery of the whole spread of legal knowledge and not simply acquire a fragmentary knowledge and this requires a systematic approach. The course of actual law is central to everything that is taught. The First Year students study the fundamental law subjects―Constitutional Law and Civil Law l. The Second Year Students study Civil Law II and Criminal Law l, Commercial Law and International Law. But to master actual law it is necessary to study Jurisprudence, and to understand the historical, social and ideological background of law as well. For this reason we put our energies into the study of the substance of law―the History of Legislation, the History of Law, the Sociology of Law and Jurisprudence―with a view to giving students a deeper understanding of the concepts of law.

  • Politics Course

The purpose of these lectures is to develop the political awareness of students and to develop their political judgement. There are lectures on the Principles of Political Science, the History of Political Thought, the History of Political Science, International Politics, Government Administration, Comparative Political Theory, the History of Oriental Diplomacy, the Constitution, Administrative Law, International Law, Public Law and many other subjects in the field of Economics. Much study is required to master these subjects.

  • Chinese Law and Politics Course

The way in which Aichi University came to be established has meant that this university and China have always enjoyed a close relationship with each other, and that is one reason why this course came to be set up.

In order to study the history and the circumstances of law and politics in China systematically, we at Aichi University teach the subjects of Chinese Law, the Theory of Chinese Politics, the History of Chinese Politics, and the History of Eastern Political Thought. In order to produce graduates who can be active and knowledgeable in the field of Chinese affairs, we offer courses of Special Chinese, Chinese Economics, and Trade Relations with China.

There is one more characteristic of studying in the Faculty of Law. In our university belonging to a seminar and producing a graduation thesis is compulsory in each course. We think it is important for students to study a special field deeply, and to deepen their understanding by discussing questions with each other. This enables us to knock our personal opinions into shape. As Juniors, students can do as they choose and belong to any seminars they wish, but as Seniors they must complete a graduation thesis.
